Are airpods really supposed to last two years tops or am I cursed?

Hello…

I’ve got an airpods 2. gen like 2 years and a few months ago. Then about an year ago I got airpods max pro for my all around use (I had them on my head most of the day). I love them with my heart.

But. Half a month ago, my airpods max did die on me (connection issue - they somehow paired but nothing coming out of them. I did have to reset them for quite time like 10 times a day before). I’m now stucked back with my 2nd gen airpods as the max are in repair (hopefully not coming back as my fault somehow).

And today, right airpod on my second gen is acting the same even tho literally 5 minutes ago it was allright. Battery is fine, it is connected, my phone sees it, but nothing coming out of it, even after restarts.

I mean, they are not that cheap to die on me like this?Lol. Is there something I overlooked to check? They both got the same problem around the same time. They did never fall, never got yeeted by any heavy object, or was used under raining.

I got them so I don’t have to invest for quite time into any other headphones… also my maxes are acting like health aid for me as I’m neurodivergent and I really need them every day. Now I basically can afford the wired version if I save a bit money, and thats it, as my health gave up and I wasnt working for half a year. I feel like I invested for nothing, just throwed a lot of money out.

I use them with my iphone 13 mini, ipad m1 and mac mini m1.
