4 yr old AirPods Max having every issue under the sun

Well, I guess my times up on my AirPods… after 4, almost 5 years of use I am starting to have issues that other people are also starting to have.

Issue 1: Auto Head Detection no longer works

Issue 2: Random disconnects

Issue 3: One ear will cut out mid song, auto disconnects and they will re-connect and be fine

Issue 4: Will connect to phone, but noise control (on the headphone itself) does not work.

After trying all troubleshooting options: hard reset headphones (multiple times), updating phone software, updating headphone software, no fix, should I get them fixed…? Or is it time to just get new ones.

Good job of troubleshooting! The only other thing left to check is the battery. It looks like it would cost about $79 to replace the battery. But given the age of your device, there is no guarantee that a new battery will solve all the issues. If it were me, I'd thank them for their long service then buy some new ones.

Same thing happened to me. Sent them in for repair, but still has the same issue immediately after they “fixed” them. If I turn my head or the ear pads slightly shift while wearing they disconnect. The only way to reconnect and to take them completely off my head and replace them over my ears. I sent them back in telling them they didn’t fix the issue - they sent them back and couldn’t “replicate the issue”. I think it’s probably time to replace them or find a new brand altogether that is more durable.
