Respond to text messages using Garmin watch

Iphone 15 Pro Max, Garmin Marq 2 Aviator watch. When I was using my previous Samsung S22 Ultra, I had the option to respond to text messages, and Okta alerts for two factor authentication from my watch. Now that I've switched to Iphone, that's no longer an option. What does Apple need to do to make this connectivity work? I get they're trying to force everyone into every aspect of the Apple ecosystem, but Apple Watch doesn't have the aviation tools I require.

Anyone found a workaround for this limitation?

Garmin can't do anything Apple doesn't allow e.g., no APIs. That said, a quick read of Messages | Apple Developer Documentation does make it sound possible. I'll post on their forums.

If it can't be done, this is really unfortunate. It may be the deciding factor for me not switching to iPhone from Android. I bike a lot - often long rides - and send messages from my head unit.
