iPhone's camera and mic turn on unexpectedly

Cam and mic flip on, usually when inert phone is picked up. Last night just the mic flipped on when a pet knocked over something and made a clatter. Mic and cam action is caught by privacy app report (settings- security) only, I never see or hear the files. There are bad guys on my network, but phone is only on data. Went to Apple Store, had midline (?) replaced for $600 warranty dollars (so free) but issue continues. Am going back, looking for suggestions to give the geniuses.

There are no bad guys getting into your phone. If there are bad guys getting into your network check with your router manufacturer for ways to secure it.

The Mic will come on briefly whenever there is a sound if you have Hey Siri enabled, because Siri needs to use the microphone. And the camera will come on when you pick up the phone so Face ID can work.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t want the bad guys in my phone so I am completely on Team Clean Phone. The report bothers me though.

Your does this too? That would make me feel so much better because I have not found another phone that has a report like this.

The App Privacy Report shows cam and mic flipping on, usually with one of the following: calendar*, messages or contacts. The report shows the three apps being enabled about 15-20 times a day.

*calendar was removed from the phone 3 months ago. But maybe it’s in the cloud?

FYI no Siri enabled ever because of privacy concerns.

Lets go Team Clean:)
