Camera App video recording sound wuality terrible since upgrading to ios 26

All videos recorded using the camera app since upgrading to iOS 26 have terrible sound: one cannot hear ambient sounds like bird calls, waves, cars passing etc. All that comes through clearly is voice!

This is NOT THE CASE when recording videos with other apps like WhatsApp or Facebook! It’s definitely some kind of filtering applied in the camera app that is NOT user adjustable!

Every video I’ve recorded since iOS 26 is useless! 😕

I’ve tried all the usual approaches: force closing, reboots, everything I could find in settings etc. A call to Apple Support suggested erasing and restoring my phone…I’ll try that later today…

I cannot be the only person on Earth with this issue?!?

For anyone who does arrive here with the same issue: it has been resolved with iOS 26.1.

No, Apple and Apple Support do not participate here. This is a user to user community. The best way to get action is to open a support ticket and if the issue stays unresolved, get it escalated up to engineering. It takes patience and persistence.
