Sonoma refuses to see server on local network

I upgraded both a MacBook Pro and a MacMini from Ventura to Sonoma 14.1.1 yesterday. The MacMini has external hard drives I use as Time Machine backups for the MBP. Time Machine on the MBP is set up to backup hourly.

Since upgrading the systems, Time Machine completed two backups last night. However, today, neither the MBP or the Mini can even see each other on the network. Thus there have been no backups since then and I now find I need to restore some of the Apple Mail content to the MBP that seems to have broken links between email folders and subfolders (but that's another story - also presently unsolved).

Although File Sharing is set up on both systems, neither system is able to see the other. Attempts to connect using Finder>Go>Connect to server and the appropriate smb://10.0.0.n fails on both systems - see:

10.0.0.8 is verified as the correct IP address of the MacMini. Both systems and the router have been power recycled several times and macOS was reinstalled from scratch on the MBP today. Apple support is on the issue but I'm asking if others may have experienced this with Sonoma.

Oh ... and we've also tried Safe Mode in both systems without success.

Both Macs are Intel CPUs.

OK. Fixed.

1 - Turned off all Sharing on both computers (File Sharing; Screen Sharing; Printer Sharing etc.

2 - Shut down both computers.

3 - Shut down router; waited 60 seconds

4 - Powered up router

5 - Powered up MacMini and turned on File Sharing, Screen Sharing, Printer Sharing

6 - Powered up MacBook Pro and turned Sharing on.

Both computers now see each other and can share files.

Will send this to Apple Support so they can tell other users with the same problem. I'm a little surprised they didn't suggest this sequence before. Must be an initiating smb issue
