Listening to audio book on phone is draining watch battery

How do I listen to an audiobook on my iPhone without it playing on my watch at the same time? By the early evening my watch is down to 10% and I don’t use it while sleeping.

With the latest apple watch update, the watch will show what I'm listening to, but the controls are gone. I've tried using the Now Playing app, but it doesn't work with those apps. Apple Watch battery drain Apple Watch battery drain. I’ve noticed whenever I listen to any audio on my iPhone the Apple Watch series 5 links to the audio and drains rapidly. I try to turn this function off in settings and it makes no difference it’s still links and shows the audio icon on the top of the watch screen. I tried to pair and unpair with no change. Any suggestions?

Can’t adjust volume of music downloaded to Apple Watch. When my Apple watch (6, 10.01) is not connected to the iPhone (13, 17.0.2), I use music downloaded to the watch eg. when running but I cannot change the volume either from Digital Crown or haptics menu. The slider turns green and moves up and down but no change. It works fine in every other situation.
