M1 Macbook Air: Battery Health 81% Capacity Remains after 268 Cycles

I have a M1 MBA that I bought in 2021. It's a fantastic machine, battery life is awesome, but the battery capacity is dropping like a rock, and is on the verge of needing replacement. I noticed it was dropping sort-of quick during the first few months of ownership, but thought it was an anomaly. It isn't.

I don't want to hear the stock answer of " batteries are consumable" that I see as a response to everyone else with this same issue. Yes, thats understood; however, it shouldn't be dropping that much, with 268 charge cycles. You know how I know this?? I have a 2014 MBA; it has over 900 cycles, and guess what? It still has 95% capacity!!! My 2009 MB had over 1000 cycles before the battery needed to be replaced.

Once this battery hits 80%--which should be soon--Apple should replace it for free. Not free with Apple Care, but actually free. They knew how to make long-lasting batteries 10 years ago, and now they forgot?? Are they in cahoots with the bat suppliers??? seems like it.

MacBook, macOS 10.13
