Final Cut Pro Playback on audio and video choppy

I've just installed FCP 10.6.10 on a Mac Book Air (2020) running Ventura 13.5.2

When I convert 3 video files to a Multicam clip the audio drops and video drop out when I’m editing. I’m using the audio that is attached to one of the videos that was downloaded via zoom)

It looks like this: https://www.loom.com/share/28de1ebef2124bfb8e56cd75efeaa1b4?sid=a6af6013-9aec-47a4-aaa8-dd5febad9a8d

1920x 1080 | 30p (optimized)- Mono 44.1kHz

I’m have my setting to use an external drive

Codec Apple Pro Res 422

Solar space - Standard  - Rec 709

My storage locations are:

Media - External Drive

Motion Content - in library

Cache: External Drive

Backups: External Drive.

I have 100GB of space free on my HD.

Any idea on how to fix this? Or do I not have enough RAM on this computer?

As Tom says, I would delete the optimized media (probably taking huge amounts of storage space) and disable "Create optimized clips for multicam clips" in Playback preferences.

I typically make H.264 proxies at 12.5% for multicams. They still look decent and are much more responsive on a slower spinning drive. Select all your clips in the browser, right-click and choose Transcode Media... Set the Viewer View menu to Proxy Preferred and then when you're done, set back to Optimized/Original for export.
