I read that Apple recommends using 70% alcohol. I have 91% alcohol wipes. Are these safe to use? My fear is that they will be too strong and possibly cause damage.

For the last several years, I have used a microfiber cloth dampened with distilled water to clean any Mac screen where a dry microfiber cloth would not suffice.
Apple would have said 91% if it was advisable, and I have not found anything that could not be gently cleaned with my first paragraph approach.
Alcohol is what you use to PERMANENTLY remove the anti-glare coating on the screen. Most users would then call that screen "ruined".

"To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air,
first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen a
soft, lint-free cloth with water only, then use it to clean the

To clean hard-to-remove smudges or fingerprints on the display or
exterior of your Mac, you can use a cloth moistened with a 70-percent
isopropyl alcohol (IPA) solution to gently wipe the display or enclosure
of your Mac laptop."
"Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don't use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don't submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don't use on fabric or leather surfaces."
Haha! That's true. I found a microfiber towel and used that instead. Did the trick without any water or anything. Better safe than sorry.
I already knew what Apple says. I repeated the same information in my question. If 70% is okay, does that mean 91% is also okay?
I don't know. It could be that all the people who would tell you "no" can't see the forum because their displays no longer work. ;-)
