Forgot to Rest HomePod before returning

I purchased a HomePod from Best Buy and retuned it. I didn’t reset the device but I removed it from iCloud after I returned. Is there something else I need to do? I am worried someone else will purchase it and have access to my data

See Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in - Apple Support. If you see the device listed there you can remove it. If it is already gone then you don't need to worry. If someone else buys the returned HomePod they are not going to be gaining access to your account. Hopefully the store will reset and test the HomePod before putting it back on sale.
