Mac Error -43 - What is it, why? Does it matter? How can I eliminate it?

Curious new anomaly has just commenced from out of the blue after years of zero issues. It happens upon closing a certain legacy audio application. When I select Quit, I now consistently get the following Sequence of dialogue box messages: First, Error-43 message as shown... and then upon hitting Continue..sometimes a couple or few times required - the next dialogue message as shown below that. After hitting Continue on Message Two, the app - eventually - will close. So...what IS this, I am wondering..and, why does running Onyx, Disk First Aid and trashing the app's prefs and rebooting...and zapping the PRAM - not get rid of this new phenomena? It's 10.14. Mojave btw. No other app presenting this issue. I am able to re-open the app subsequently, btw. This is just unsettling because I have no idea what it means or how to eliminate it. Thanks for any clues, Mike

Unless you're using some secret software, please share with us what app this is related to.

Have you visited the developer's website for assistance?

The steps you noted that you have taken obviously don't work for every software error that might crop up.

Are there external drives involved here, or just the internal startup drive?

See if the problem still happens in Safe mode (press and hold the shift key down at startup). It can take much longer to safe boot (5 min) so be patient.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode can very often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to do cache clearing and other housekeeping. When you're in safe boot, the machine will not be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Does the problem persist while in Safe mode?

Exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally and re-evaluate the issue again.

Long-orphaned audio editing software Bias Peak which I just presume no one will have ever heard of. There is no developer website, just my occasional contact with its creator to get reauthorizations. It requires 32-bit so Mojave is the end-of-life for it. I require an External HFS+ (vs APFS) HD for write-to file creation. The only involvement of the External is that the app must have that drive assigned as its 'scratch disk." Those can be saved to the APFS internal, just not "written-to" on it, FWIW.

I was hoping someone might be able to identify what the messaging in the error code dialogue specifically means.

I remember Bias Peak.

Before you try to reinstall the OS, see what happens if you delete the app, restart the Mac and reinstall BP.

Of course, a simple reinstallation of the OS may fix the problem. Make sure you do NOT erase, reformat or otherwise alter the startup drive. Just do an OS reinstall. This will leave all of your user files in place and just refresh the OS.

Of course, please make sure you have backed up your system before you do any of this. It would be a shame if something went sideways and you couldn't recover your stuff.

Actually more inclined to try the OS reinstall first. Getting reauthorizations for new installs of Peak can be tricky…developer still maintains a system to request them online but sometimes it can be a few days before i am able to get in touch with him so…i’m always hesitant because it has to be reauthorized every time its reinstalled.

Crazy right?
