My text messages icon disappeared from my iPhone desk top. Can’t find it

The Message app is not one of the apps that can be deleted but it can be removed from the Home Screen. Go to the App Library (swipe left past your last Home Screen). From there you can touch and hold an app and slide it to the Home Screen.

One way to restore it is:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

If I choose to ‘reset’ will that delete things on my phone? ie. Photos, contacts, games, etc?
