folder with exclamation mark and error -2002F. Can't update OS.

I hadn't updated as seems like every time we update more issues. And now nothing was running so needed to update. Tried to update and would recognise my Apple ID and password. yes correct password. There attempted to erase and start again.

Unfortunately doesn't work at all now. First would get a question mark flashing folder. Did the reboot recommended, command R to reset on power on. Then a globe would come up looking for internet. Internet connected and would keep searching and then this error code -2002F with the exclamation comes on and haven't been able to find a reset that works. Operating system 10.10.5 Yosemite.

Reinstalling the OS on much older, obsolete hardware seems to have become a challenge lately. Apple servers appear to be performing less than adequately.

Try booting into Safe mode and installing or upgrading from that. (press and hold the shift key down at startup). It can take much longer to safe boot (5 min) so be patient.

Also, when you're in safe boot, the machine will not be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Just to add to D.I. Johnson's gret advice... from my notes...

If you see an exclamation point inside a triangle inside a globe, that’s an i turner recovery timeout. It means that either it wasn’t able to connect to the internet or the speed of the connection was inadequate.

thanks for your assistance. That didn t quite work but led me to the other command alt +r +p and then it didn’t work initially with the Ethernet connection but then worked when I paired with my phone got spot. Go figure. I

so was able to finally connect and load up mountain lion. But when trying to open up web pages now saying safari cannot establish a secure connection and stuck with all browsers such as fire fox and chrome. Trying to upload elCaptain
