CMD-N / command-n not working

In every app, including the Finder, command-n no longer works. Survives a reboot. OS 13.6.2.

There is no keyboard shortcut in System Settings that has been assigned these key presses.

Parallels, macOS 11.0

Do you still see the shortcut written in the respective menu items?

Test to see if the problem persists in Safe Mode. If it does, then make absolutely sure that the same shortcut was not inserted either in System Settings->Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts, or in the Shortcuts application.

If Command-N works in Safe Mode, restart again normally and test again. If the problem recurs, there must be a software conflict. Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

The same issue happens on my macOS Ventura 13.5.2, too. It's annoying, and I can't believe it happens on MacOS. CMD-N works no more on any applications.

To trouble shoot further you can:

As recommended above by Luis Sequeira1...

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

A new window in the finder, a new doc in Word, a new email in Outlook, a new spreadsheet in Excel, etc.

The menu items work, but I want my keyboard shortcuts to work. All the other shortcuts work - it's only Command-N that doesn't.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
