iOS 17
I’m concerned about this update and want to hear what others are saying about it for their iPads and iPhones. I don’t have much space on my phone as it’s older.
Do I HAVE TO update to this system?

In what way are you concerned? Update to iPadOS 17.1.1 from iPadOS 16.x is entirely optional.
iPadOS 16 continues to receive updates at this time. At some point - as yet undisclosed by Apple - devices capable of update to iPadOS 17.x will require update to iPadOS 17 in order to receive ongoing functional and security updates.
