Newest update error

Updated my iphone 15 pro max to the newest version on 11/18/23 and now the phone touch screen is unreponsive (Any swiping or trying to touch the screen will not register) and phone won't charge. Tried restarting the phone 10 different times and does not fix the issue. I am trying to avoid restoring the phone as I have videos I need for my work and Icloud is not backed up and unable to pull data from phone without using the touchscreen to input password.

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

Backups must be done before disaster strikes. If you have important content you should enable automatic nightly backups, or sync important data to iCloud.

For now, try a forced restart:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP

     then

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN

     then

  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.

Report this to Apple:

So, do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of your occurrence, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
