i am planning to purchase iPhone 15 Pro Max from Japan and use it within Sri Lanka. I am looking is there any many differences between both versions regarding telco bands and are there any major differences of features?

There is no such thing as an "international version" of the iPhone. iPhones are region/country specific.
If you buy an iPhone in Japan, it should work abroad so long as it is not carrier locked.
Note that certain features may not behave the same as on a device you purchase in your own country.
The camera shutter sound can not be silenced on devices sold in Japan. it is illegal to do so there.
Also, the warranty will only be valid in Japan and it may be impossible even to get paid repairs performed outside of Japan.
