Difference between an Apple Music Personal Cloud Library vs. Apple Music Library song?

Does anyone know how Apple Music differentiates between an Apple Music Personal Cloud Library song vs. a standard Apple Music Library song?

For more context I make compilations with custom mixed songs. This may include some EQ mastering but more likely just features custom transitions between songs.

Importing this mix into Apple Music as separate tracks and adding to the cloud library sounds exactly as it should on the master computer/the computer it is imported into. However, on another computer or device using the mobile app it seems like the track is overridden with the standard Apple Music library version (a.k.a. no custom edit).

For additional context the song origins are from multiple sources (mp3s from Vinyl purchases, ripped from CDs, purchased from the iTunes store, downloaded via a different platform like Bandcamp, etc.) that doesn't seem to make a difference when uploaded to the cloud library. Unless the song isn't in the Apple Music library, the custom edit version gets overridden.

So, I'm curious if anyone knows how Apple Music recognizes a song uploaded to the cloud library (via an algorithm (like Shazam, for example), by name only or something else? I want to ensure that the custom edit version is used vs. the standard edit (if that is possible).

Hi,

Apple music uses acoustic fingerprinting technology to identify tracks. If a track is matched, that match will be used on your other devices- the original on source computer is not altered unless you opt to remove original and download the matched version. This procedure works satisfactorily in most cases but there sometimes is a mismatch occurs.

If a track is not matched and therefore uploaded, you should get your modified versions across all your devices.

Therefore you must ensure that the modified track is uploaded rather than matched. Easier said than done because the acoustic fingerprinting may not distinguish between original and modified. I suspect that Shazam uses the same technology to identify tracks.
