Battery always fully 100% charged after update 14.1.1

Macbook Air 2019 14.1.1 (23B81)

I have always turn on optimized charging.

It's been a few days that my mac gets charged to 100% every time I plug in my charging cable . Which makes me worry is that going to damage my battery.

If I remember correctly, this started happening since I update my mac to 14.1.1, could it be the problem?

The battery will periodically need to charge to 100% and stay there to maintain that capability. It might take a few weeks before it goes back to the lower resting charge level (~ 80%). I would not be concerned unless it has stayed at 100% for some several weeks. If you sometimes disconnect from the charger, that may also result in it charging to 100%. The algorithms for this get updated when there is a system update so you might see a change in the pattern after a system update.

Optimised charging works, when the MacBook is continuously plugged into power. From what you wrote, I gather that you use your MacBook on battery and then plug it in. When you disconnect the electrical power, and then connect it, it will always go 100%. But, if you keep your MacBook always plugged in, the MacOS/MBA would learn how you use it that way, and reduce the charge to 80%.

But, if you keep on unplugging, then you have to decide, whether you'd want 100% or 80% or less, that is, when to plug it in, and when to unplug it. The best way is to keep it plugged in, whenever you are near an electrical power socket.

(I've been writing about my experiences here, if you'd want to read that.)

To add to the very good advise from Both previous Contributors - bravo to both.

A feature introduced into Big Sur & Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS.

It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur , Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma  to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level.

One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%.

From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

In my experience - the Apple Algorithm is sometimes a " Slow Leaners "

Have personally experienced where it took 3 - 4 Months before the Algorithm had learned enough of my computer usages before it Kick In.

Batteries needs exercise to keep chemicals in the battery healthy and do what they do

Yes. Turn off Optimized battery charging and Manage battery longevity. Under Ventura, this is done in the Battery System Settings, for Battery Health click the (i) and then you can turn those two things off. (Not sure if Sonoma is the same as Ventura for these Settings options).

If you turn them off, the battery will just charge as high as it can and stay there, as used to happen before Apple implemented the algorithms to increase battery life. But the battery will probably not last as long as with the optimized charging.
