Disk0s2 is not mounted, and wont mount.

I've been having issues with my Imac not working smoothly. I noticed that my Disk0s2 is not mounted and I have not been able to mount it. Issues with my Imac have been poor connection to web pages, or web pages not loading at all. I know it's not my internet since my Macbook is working perfectly. I thought maybe it had something to do with Disk0s2 not being mounted. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thanks I see one major issue that needs to be addressed and is a possible cause of the problem. You have ExpressVPN.app installed which may be causing the problem. Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for it and then please uninstall. Then restart in Safe Mode (Note: this can take up to 10 minutes to do so please be patient) and then restart normally and retest to see if your system can see the drive.

It's important for you to know that Mac OS does NOT benefit in any way nor does it require any of the following types of third party apps to remain secure:

  1. Antivirus
  2. Cleaning
  3. Security
  4. VPN
  5. General Maintenance

In order for Mac OS to remain secure, stable and fast simply keep it up-to-date and restart the computer about 1x every week.

I noticed your computer was a Fusion Drive machine and it appears the internal HD was removed and you are now using an external SSD as your startup drive. Please confirm my assessment is correct or correct me.

Finally, I noticed Time Machine has not been run in over 10 days. Time Machine should be connected at all times and running. Not having it connected will eventually result in lost data!

Thanks for the screenshots! It appears that the previous internal hard disk, which was part of a Fusion Drive, was replaced with an internal SSD. In which case, disk0s2 can be ignored. It's simply a "leftover" part of your previous Fusion Drive which is no longer operable. It is not related to the poor internet performance, but ExpressVPN might. Follow rkaufmann87's advice to remove it from your Mac.

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. The report we are requesting does NOT provide any personal information and is extremely safe to use. Please navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

So I uninstalled the VPN and everything is running smoothly again. A year ago my hard drive failed and I replaced it with an internal SSD. I also have an external SSD that I use to store extra data. Unfortunately, my Time Machine backup drive is not functioning properly. I want to reformat it, but my iMac doesn't detect it. I might have to buy a new one.

It's important to have a working backup. I'd suggest using a large OWC Mercury Elite Pro. You can choose a higher capacity, such as 8TB or 12TB, and use it to backup both your internal SSD and your external SSD. To set it up as your backup disk, this Apple Support article should help: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support. To also backup an external drive with Time Machine, you can remove the other external drive from Time Machine's exclusions list: Exclude files from a Time Machine backup on Mac - Apple Support.

Also, from your EtreCheck report, I noticed that your external Crucial SSD is only running at USB 2.0 speeds. While this wouldn't affect the performance of your Mac, it would affect the responsiveness of the external drive. Is the drive connected directly to your Mac? Are you using an adapter?
