If I click on a link to view a pdf, a window pops up asking to open or save. If I just close the window and don't save the file, the .html.part or .csv.part file stays on the desktop. As soon as I click a pdf link, the file appears on my desktop. Doesn't matter what site I am on. Why would it do this? Doesn't seem normal.
Can i redirect these .html.part or .csv.part files to the bin ?
any help appreciated.

Which browser are you using? This is not the standard behavior, at least not in Safari.
It seems to me that you are not letting the download finish, and also that for some reason you have set the downloaded content to go to your Desktop instead of the usual location, Downloads.
Please elaborate.
I am using Safari 17,1 and chrome 119.0.6045.123 but these .html.part and .csv.part are appearing on my desktop when opening PDF´s from my e-mail (Thunderbird 115.4.3)
I don't have Thunderbird, so I cannot test. I assume that it means that it is downloading (or at least trying to download) the files. For some reason, the download may be stalling.
