Apple 20W USB-C charging brick starts charging, but stops after a minute or so.

Hi there,

I received my iPhone 15 Pro a little over a week ago, and later bought the official Apple charger separately. The first few days were fine, until I plugged my phone in, it started charging, and then suddenly stops. At first I thought it had something to do with the new iPhones being able to reverse charge through the USB-C port, because I was getting a message which said “Accessory is using too much power” (which is weird, since it’s a power brick, which should in no case pull power from my phone to charge what, my house?).

I already went to an official Apple store, and they, just like I thought, thought it most likely had something to do with software.

But, I needed some information from my old phone, a Google Pixel 5, and hooked it on the Apple charging brick. It started charging from 0% until it just stopped at 7%, just to not charge again.

So, my question is, are there people who have the same problem? Because when I googled this issue, there were several people who got the same message, but none (as far as I know) mentioned that the same thing occurred on a different device as well.

I understood from other questions that I am able to trade the charger. Can I do this at any Apple Reseller, or do I need to go to an official Apple store?

Cheers from the Netherlands,

Brent

FYI ... you have 14 days, from the purchase date, to return this power adapter for either a replacement of a full refund.

Also, FWIW, for iPhones the actual charger is built-into the phone itself. It controls how much current it will accept at any given time from the adapter. However, since your Pixel also is having issues with this adapter, it is very possible that it is defective.
