When my iMac updates the system software and reboots I get a message that says "FM Core" app is not compatible with System Mac OS 14.0. But it does not tell me what to look for or which app needs updating?? Also, Now I have to have a password for my Time Machine back up which I never needed before. Really frustrating. HELP!!

It is really up to third party developers to test their apps with Beta versions of Mac OS prior to the release of any Mac OS updates. This is why Apple has a Beta program for developers that sell products for Mac OS. It is not Apple's responsibility to do this as they don't develop the third party apps. It is also users responsibilities to keep their third party updates up-to-date prior to updating their OS.
In most cases this is a non issue assuming users have been keeping their third party apps updated. In rare situations you can run into an issue, I suspect your situation is a result of one of these rare situations. Please check with the developers of FM Core (or check inside the app) to see if they have any updates.
Alas, you're finding out a bit too late that it sometimes is best to do a bit of research on installed apps to make sure they're compatible with a new MacOS.
As far as your TM backup is concerned...somehow it thinks you set it up as an encrypted backup?
The FM Core thing appears to be related to some sort of Extensis Font Management software, as per the quick Google search I just did.
You don't tell my how to locate incompatible apps on my iMac, or how to find the "FM Core" that has to be updated!
