What printers does Apple (or users) recommend?

I have a Canon MG5120 printer that is about to bite the dust. It has given me great service since 2011. Can anyone give me recommendations for a replacement?

There are probably a lot more features now such as Air Print, etc. I do not want something that is not going to cost a fortune to keep ink in it. I possible would consider a laser printer but I would need color and the cost is probably prohibitive.

I print letters, spread sheets. web pages, images, photos and more.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
