iOS 17.1.1 Issues on iPhone

My phones volume is ALL MESSED UP. Connected to Bluetooth in my car? can hardly hear, but all volumes are maxed.

connect to my AirPods? Music is fine, but all notifications of any kind are SO GD LOUD I can’t wear them.

volume is low, but 50% of the day my keyboard clicks were so loud I had to silence my phone. I didn’t even know that the clicks could be that loud! It was insane!

all my ringtones and alert sounds are changed/different - not a fan.

anyone else experiencing any of these issues?

I had NO issues with my iphone sounds prior to the iOS 17.1.1 update. The upgrade DID "alter the fundamental functionality of the device...there were [NO] underlying issues before this update."

Unfortunately, your response does not address the fact that my alert and notification tones are silent. The haptics work.

I figured it out. I was auto connected to a bluetooth speaker that was not being used. I turned the option on that speaker to "Not Connected." That solved the problem.

However, I had been connected to that speaker when it was not in use prior to this last upgrade and I had not experienced this issue.

Updated to the 17.1.1. FindMy is totally worthless now. All of my Tags are missing and I cannot reload them! This is extremely frustrating AND really can be a major problem if our tagged items go missing!!!!!

The Poster feature in Contacts is ridiculous! The ability to make a selection (email, text, etc) at the top is useful BUT those bold contact’s initials have got to go!!!! Put back our Contacts photo (where those **** initials are!)!!!!!!

No one reading here can do that. You can let Apple know your thoughts here:

Was this release even tested?!!!!!

Apple does in-house alpha testing, private beta testing and public beta testing. Any iPhone user can particpate in the public beta testing.

Those from Apple that refuse to believe all these issues are not due to the update have their heads in the sand. There are so many issues that started immediately after the upgrade. Discounting them is an insult to us all. We are not all making this stuff up and we are not idiots that just want to complain. Many of us are intelligent individuals adept at working through issues. None of the work arounds work. This upgrade was a serious DOWNGRADE. Many of the main functions of the iPhone no long work, rendering the phone nearly useless in some respects. We respectfully ask that you stop ignoring all of these complaints and fix them. This is the most expensive phone out there and in many ways it is no longer usable. I’m very tired of having to leave the room for a business call, because the only way I can hear the caller is to put the call on speaker. This is an essential function of the phone. And no, don’t ask me to check the speaker for lint or obstructions. All the issues are related to the upgrade. Everything was fine prior to. Please fix these issues for those of us that depend on our phones for work and everyday life.

Hello! I'm here (again) to report that last night -- in an effort to possibly mitigate some of the issues that my iPhone 13 Pro has been experiencing due to the recent iOS 17.1.1 update -- I foolishly installed the emergency update 17.1.2. And this morning, I've been watching my battery drain at the rate of 1% every 5-6 minutes. There are no apps running in the background, it's just me, staring at the battery percentage bar going down as I take screenshots along the way.

I estimate that at this rate, the phone will have gone from 100% down to 0% within 10 hours.

The newest 17.1.2 update contains an urgent fix to address some security vulnerabilities. Before you install it, be aware that it may result in rapid battery depletion.

I guess I'm fortunate. My phone is so old that it didn't update. So, I have only my iPad to complain about. After music not playing on it since the 17.1.1 update, I continue to have the same problem after it updated to 17.1.2. What should I do? Will a visit to the Apple store help? I doubt it. I was considering buying an iPad mini this season. Well, that intention is gone. I won't be buying another Apple product, and I will be advising everyone I know to do the same. Because what good is having an Apple device if it doesn't work the way it should, and Apple customer "service" appears to be nonexistent? I am at a loss as to how to get my iPad fixed. Shame on you, Apple, for this fiasco.

Came here to see if the 17.1.2 update would fix the problems from 17.1.1, but looks like no. My phone updated to 17.1.1 without asking me; usually I have waited to do the updates, but somehow my phone was set to auto-update. I have changed it back to manual updates, and I am going to wait - I am afraid to do something that could even make it worse!

Apple please stop the scrolling phone number when a call comes in. This is not helpful. Just make it immobile. There’s no practical reason for this. I can no longer tell who is calling.

As I recall, this has been the case for years, depending on the lenght of the number and the size of the font you've chosen to use.

Hi everyone,

I’ve run into a problem since updating my iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 17.1.1. I’m using the Apple Lightning-USB 3.0 Adapter to connect my phone with a Helix HEC HD-Audio USB-Interface in my car. This was working perfectly until the recent iOS update.

Now, when I connect my iPhone with this specific adapter, I get an incompatibility message, a problem I didn’t encounter with earlier iOS versions. Has anyone else experienced this with the Apple Lightning-USB 3.0 Adapter? Any ideas on how to fix this, or is Apple aware and planning a fix in a future update?

Thanks for any advice or insights!

I have been late to work twice since this update because my pre set alarms for certain days DONT WORK. They’ve been working fine for the last two years. Also when I go to check the time during the night I don’t need the bloody calander coming up or some GIANT clock that burns into my eyeballs for the next 5 minutes. Worst update ever. There were no “underlying” problems here either.

You can turn Standby mode off if you don't like it. Settings>Standby>Standby>Off. If you want to keep it on but not have it so bright, go to Settings>Standby>Display>Night Mode and turn it own. The clock will shift to a dim red. I find this a nice compromise as the numbers are large enough to see clearly without glasses but not so bright as to be annoying.

Just adding to the general consensus here that there is something very wrong with iOS 17. I have a brand new iPhone 15 (actually, I am on my third one, specifically because I keep encountering issues that so far have not been resolved). My main complaint is that the audio quality on phone calls is terrible -- it's just totally distorting what the other person sounds like. My guess is that some "voice isolation" function is running not just once, but 2 or 5 or 10 times, resulting in the sound sounding like a "copy of a copy of a copy." Many others have noted this, but I just have to make the same point: why is Apple spending so much development and marketing effort on adding 10 more cameras and ability to shoot 3D video or whatever, and not making sure that the iPhone can function as a phone? I have reported this issue to Apple multiple times via their feedback/bug fix form, to no avail.

Another issue I've had: normally, when my alarm goes off in the morning, I tap it to snooze it for a bit, or swipe left to clear it and get up. Now, when I swipe left, the alarm just . . . snoozes for a bit and then goes off again. This is not a user-error/drowsiness issue; I've tested it while very much awake and specifically looking for this issue. This is tons of fun when I have swiped to clear the alarm and then it goes off while I am in the shower. Great work, everyone.
