iOS 17.1.1 Issues on iPhone

My phones volume is ALL MESSED UP. Connected to Bluetooth in my car? can hardly hear, but all volumes are maxed.

connect to my AirPods? Music is fine, but all notifications of any kind are SO GD LOUD I can’t wear them.

volume is low, but 50% of the day my keyboard clicks were so loud I had to silence my phone. I didn’t even know that the clicks could be that loud! It was insane!

all my ringtones and alert sounds are changed/different - not a fan.

anyone else experiencing any of these issues?

I had NO issues with my iphone sounds prior to the iOS 17.1.1 update. The upgrade DID "alter the fundamental functionality of the device...there were [NO] underlying issues before this update."

Unfortunately, your response does not address the fact that my alert and notification tones are silent. The haptics work.

I figured it out. I was auto connected to a bluetooth speaker that was not being used. I turned the option on that speaker to "Not Connected." That solved the problem.

However, I had been connected to that speaker when it was not in use prior to this last upgrade and I had not experienced this issue.

IOS 17 (including the very latest revision as of this post) definitely includes bugs impacting ringer volume. I have confirmed this on iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max.

Set the ringer volume to a specific setting in Sounds & Haptics—ringer volume upon receiving an incoming call intermittently DOES NOT ring in at the volume set in Sounds & Haptics. In fact, more often it DOES NOT respect the selected volume level.

long time Apple proponent, very disappointed by the deterioration of quality in software releases as of late.

This 17.1.1 update screwed up my phone, as well as hundreds of others that have posted about this update on the support forums!

how dare you say it’s the users fault!

this was a forced update for me; I didn’t have a choice! Now I am unable to make or recieve phone calls well, as the screen turns this white shade, and the call quality sounds like a strange loud buzzer in the background!

thousands of people are complaining about this update! Read the **** forums!

I didn’t show up to work cause of the sound problem too. I was so confused when I woke up all late and didn’t see a sign of my phone tried to wake me up and all of my alarm was still on so I tested it. Usually when the alarm rings, it will go from normal volume for like 3 times then gets louder but after the new iOS I did the opposite way 😭 it went loud 3 times then lower 🤦‍♀️

Hello! I'm here specifically because the iOS 17.1.1 update was pushed to my iPhone 13 Pro last night, and since that time, EVERY notification that has hit my phone is triggering a sound effect. In fact, the sounds woke me up. Until last night I only had a few apps that were set to use sounds. I've spent all day turning off sounds on notifications as they come in. So yeah, this update was not defect-free.

I have IPhone 13 and since updating my phone is a mess. I keep losing connection with my IPods it keeps connecting then disconnecting. It will keep going to home screen when I’m on FaceTime with someone, I keep having to click to get it back. I can’t hear phone conversations, they can hear me, the screen freezes and turns black. I also lost the ability for texts GIFs. My phone volume and power off abilities freeze where I can’t even push them to do anything! Not sure what else I will find! Please either undo this fix or correct all these problems!! I can’t take it!!!

Yeah -- keyboard clicks are super loud and super slow. I type faster than the keyboard responds. I've also had problems with the caps key reverting before I could type the letter. I had to click it twice to make it work. Also, if I replace a word or phrase by selecting and cutting, the editing now puts me smack against the last word instead of leaving a space. So I type the replacement and then have to go back and put a space before the replacement word or phrase. So annoying.

They replaced the alert sound I had for messages from my doctor/clinic with something I can barely hear. There is nothing I can do to change it because it's not on the list of sounds.

And I made the mistake of trying out a new ringtone and then discovered that they'd deleted my old one so I couldn't go back to it.

Some settings were also changed without my knowledge, but they try that every time they fiddle with the OS.

I am also having issues with sound since the update. Each morning after my phone has been plugged in, I have no sound. I plug it in once I am in the car and when i disconnect from the car... I have sound again. So weird. I first thought it was the specific app I was using at the moment but then i tried to play my music, no sound. Tried Youtube, no sound. I have tried the things they have suggested but it doesn't change anything until I plug into my car. Even more strange, if plugging it into the charging cord helps, I wonder why it happens every morning because I always plug it in to charge overnight. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

Made a forum account literally to add to the noise in hopes this will be fixed. This update made playing music a headache. I mostly listen in the car, and I have to significantly raise the volume from what I did prior to this update, and on top of that the bass is cut by a ton. Even worse I've found is that for some reason it's like every song that plays rolls a dice on how functional it will be. I will be playing songs from the same album, and the first song will sound quiet with no bass, but then the next song about blows my eardrums out because it decided to be a functioning song, then the next one is quiet but the bass is there. I had these same issues with the speakers at my job which ended up being a headache when one moment a song would be an appropriate level, and the next people are having to plug their ears until the volume is dropped. I am also having issues with hearing people in phone calls.

Yes mcivera, I updated to 17.1.2 a few days ago. Immediatly after the update, the battery began draining at a rapid clip, approximately 1% every 5 or 6 minutes, which means a full charge on my iPhone 13 Pro now goes from 100% to zero in approximately 10 hours. This is 2.5 times faster drain than normal.

None of the other issues I was experiencing after the 17.1.1 update were resolved. (My issues mainly revolve around volume and notifications.) It's my understanding that the 17.1.2 update was not a fix for the 17.1.1 issues, but it was rather a security update for a vulnerability that had been discovered.
