Apple TV 4K WiFi is on all the time

A lot of people think that when the new Apple TV 4K connects to your network via Ethernet cable, the WiFi turns automatically off.

That is NOT the case.

Mine is connected via Ethernet and the MAC address shows on my network as an Ethernet connected device, however another device started showing up in the Network as “Entertainment Room”. I couldn’t find the MAC address on any of my devices and I suspected the Apple TV 4K. So I disconnected the Ethernet from my new Apple TV 4K and lo n behold the MAC address showed up on the Network settings on the Apple TV and it was confirmed on my Network. It does go on n off though, it’s not always showing on my Network, but it does show often enough.

Bottom line? The WiFi never really turns off on the new Apple TV 4K even when the device is connected via Ethernet cable.
