iPad serial number

I was trying to do a trade in on Apple website but the serial number the settings in the iPad will not verify. How to fix this problem

Are you certain you carefully checked “1” versus “I” and letter “O” versus number zero “0”?

Yes, I copied and pasted the serial number from the about page to the verification screen. I finally had to get apple support chat to help me with the order and trade in. Thanks for your reply.
