Clearing iPhone Unavailable on an iPhone 13

I just had my screen replaced on my iPhone 13 but now when it powers up the screen says, "iPhone Unavailable" without listing any of the various time limits one normally sees (1 minute, 15 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) Since I can't access any screen to enter the correct passcode to open the phone, how can I get into my phone?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

If Unavailable, take this up with those who replaced the screen. They locked it on you (perhaps unintentionally?).

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

Your iPhone is locked. So, get this serviced.

Hold it Right There!

Being Locked Out...

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

No Success?

Contact Apple support:

If you cannot get the above link to work, then contact Apple Support.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through.

Excellent job troubleshooting!

Do your Part: Inform Apple of this fix. Apple barely reads these forums as it is on their own time. So, to get the word out to them, report it to them. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of this fix, if your don't provide it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on when you came across this issue, and the fix. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Issue resolved after half a day with Apple Support and the other half spent researching online. I found my solution via YouTube as all 4 of the unlock methods I found on support.apple.come/iphone/restore would not work for me. On iPhone 13, to enter restore mode, you quickly press and release the volume down button immediately followed by holding the long button on the opposite. Continue holding that button when the Apple symbol shows all the way until you see the restore screen. If phone is connected to a different computer, you will receive prompts to either restore or update your phone and in my case, I chose Restore which brought the phone back to factory settings because I knew I had a recent iCloud backup that I could access to replace my settings and data once the phone was unlocked. Problem solved!

Take it back to who ever replaced your screen.
