Upgrade Sonoma 14.1.1. Problem with Internet connection

After upgrading to Sonoma 14.1.1. my internet connection stops working after about 5 minutes :-( and I don't know why. I have already removed all the programs that were running in the background at startup but it didn't help. The Mac pretends to be connected to wifi but without internet. Network the settings are ok (IP, DNS, gateway) the iPhone normally has internet on this Wi-Fi. Can anyone help?

It would be interesting to find out why these VPNs trouble with Mac's internet connection. These VPNs in trying to hide the router IP address, simply cuts off the connection to the router itself from within.

I use ProtonVPN. I can choose different protocols incl the "Smart" choise which will automatically select the most efficient protocol for a given connection. I saw that when on "Smart" the WireGuard protocol was chosen. In this case I got a connection but after a short while the connection was broken. I turned of Little Snitch and NetBarrier one-by-one. That didn't change a thing.

My solution was to force the protocol to be IKEV2. Then the connection would not be cut off and be fast and reliable. Turning on Little Snitch and NetBarrier did not break the connection.

I only had this problem on one of my Mac's. On the 3 other ones the WireGuard protocol is working OK.

I have exactly the same issue. After the upgrade internet broke. It recieves an IP address, the gateway and DNS server, so DHCP works, but for pinging even the gateway it says "no route to host" and 0 packets reaching the gateway. Also it cannot ping the ip of the laptop itself (the one that was recieved by the DHCP server)! I tried also on different access points but always same issue. I noticed that turning off everything related to wireless like bluetooth fixes temporarily the internet issue, so I could ping an extrnal IP and resolve DNS names, but the browser and the upgrade application says no internet. I tried also with a cable and it seems that only internet via the commandline work. It's obvious that Sonoma was not tested properly before the realease. Anyways, I hope there is a fix for that soon.

For my case It looks that is not related to Little Snitch. Turning off all the wifi related stuff worked for a while and when I turned on bluetooth at the same time the issue appeared again. :(

Get rid of all kinds of Little Snitches, your Mac will thank you.

And, you'd stop having all kinds of headaches...👌

You have to take a decision, whether you want your internet connection to work without fail, or live with those internet connection failings using 3rd party apps. If you are worried that some websites you visit might try to pull information from your computer, don't connect to them. Safari is quite good at keeping you safe, that is, if you want that. Safari settings > look at tabs Security, Privacy and Websites for example.
