Did I get a refurbished unit?

I just got a new apple keyboard from the apple shop. The packaging was already different from what I see online, where the box is wrapped in plastic. Mine just had a latch with a sticker. the keyboard itself was wrapped in the usual paper-like thingy but I could already see some dust under it. on the aluminum of the keyboard there was a dot that looked like fly poop. I managed to remove it though with a lot of scratching. some of the buttons feel mushier than the others. the serial number starts with "F". I read that for iPhones this means that the unit is refurbished. is this also the case with apple keyboards?

If so can I request to get a non-refurbished unit from Apple?

AFAIK, Apple does not sell refurbished keyboards.

By "apple shop" are you referring to a 'brick & mortar' Apple Store or something else? Regardless, Apple provides you with a 14-day period, from the date of purchase, to return the device for either a replacement of a full refund.

As such, I would take it back to this store and have them honor that there.
