Update Apple Settings

I attempt to click on my name in settings on my iphone but it is grayed out. I am prompted to "update apple id settings. I choose that option, then click continue. I add my password but nothing progresses. I can log in on a laptop with my credentials, not my phone. In my account settings on the laptop, I don't have the option to fix what is happening with my phone. I am attempting to share my location with family but until I "sign in", no luck.

If an app or feature on your device is not working, not appearing, or is restricted (grayed out), it may have been disabled using Screen Time, or by an IT administrator if you are using a device owned by an employer or educational institution.

- Read this support article If your Apple ID or other options are greyed out in Settings —> If your Apple ID is greyed out in Settings - Apple Support

Tap Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > scroll to Allow Changes.

- If the device is managed (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management), contact the IT department that is doing the managing.

Read the document:

Sign in to your iPhone with Apple ID - Apple Support

- Make sure you are signed into your account

- Verify payment method(s) and billing address as described in Add a payment method to your Apple ID - Apple Support . Items in red have problems.

- If you're using other Apple IDs with services such as Messages or the App Store, make sure those are signed in too.

Thanks. I was able to see that certain things were "not allowed" so I changed to "allow" but still, family sharing isn't an option. It is gray. I turned the phone off and back on. There was a new message letting me know that my phone had not been updated and asked if I wanted to update my Apple ID settings. I chose to update, entered my password and now the wheel is spinning. I am hopeful that will make the changes. Thank you.
