how to back up and release storage space
How can I ensure all my data is in the cloud space and free up my computer space? As of now I can not upload any more videos and photos due to space contriants.

iCloud is not a backup for computers. It is meant as a syncing mechanism and if you delete something on your computer, it will disappear from iCloud as well. You need an external hard drive and then use Time machine to create automatic backups. Remember that it will only back up what is on the computer. You can also use an external drive to use as storage space which means you can then delete the file from your computer saving internal storage space.
