After cancelling Apple Music, lots of MY music is greyed out.
I've restored all the files from my original libraries (pre-Apple Music) to my Music library; a few hundred albums, and well over 6,000 songs...
Since Apple Music never differentiated between my original library and all the streamed music added to the list, I backed my libraries up multiple times long ago.
I restored those backups after unsubscribing. However, a large number of MY files were then greyed out in the library, with no Play button. They can still play at the album level, by selecting the song and hitting spacebar, or using the 'master' Play button to play the entire album.
I read all the older posts on this same topic, but none of them actually solved (without jumping through extremely complicated hoops). Then I discovered what the issue is (at least, in my case. I don't know if this will solve the issue for everyone).
It turns out that the 'greyed out' songs were "unchecked". For example, I had an album with 14 songs, 10 of which were greyed out. I selected all the songs, unchecked them all, then re-checked them all. Hey, presto! They are no longer greyed out and all have their own Play buttons again.
Since half my library was 'unchecked' I went to "Songs", selected all, then unchecked and rechecked. My library is now (mostly) back to normal. I still lost ALL my playlists, which felt like "punishment" for unsubscribing, but the library is otherwise fully reformed and functional.
I'm posting this in case anyone else is having a similar issue. It might solve it for you.
Cheers!
