how to convert a .pvt file?

dont know why but for a while pictures taken using my iphone will result in .pvt files when transferred to my ipad. No app available to open the files and store pictures using .png or .jpg format. Cant be opened but a thumbnail can be seen in preview

can you help or explain what happened?

AAE file how to open? i have physically downloaded a bunch of photos from my. phone to my iMac but the photo app will not allow me to view the AAE files.. some of them are jpeg some of them are high efficiency and then some of them are are files.. i need to know how i can stop my iPhone from creating images in AAE file format or how to convert them once they are on my iMac.. because again the native photo app does not open them at all.

Copying original, full size image. I must be missing something, again. iPhone 14 Max Pro. I take a picture in RAW format. The gallery says the file size is 51MB which is correct. When I look at the file in iCloud drive, a) it was converted to jpg, and b) the file size is 4.7MB. Note that my iCloud/Photos settings says "download and keep originals." Furthermore, even when I copy the original RAW file from the gallery and save it using the files app to a Windows computer on my network, once again the file is converted to jpg and is compressed to 4.7MB. This is fairly ridiculous because I'm literally trying to copy a file. NOTHING should be done to the file during a copy. How do I get the original RAW file off of this phone?

How to convert HEIC to jpg When importing photos from iPhone OS16.3.1 to MacBook Pro OS 12.5 using a USB cable and Image Capture, there used to be an option to convert from HEIC to JPG during the import. Support says to go to Phone>Settings>Photos and toggle the last menu item for transfer to "Automatic". This doesnt work as everything is imported in the format it was taken in. Called Apple Support today and they dont have any answers. Its a pain in the neck to have to batch convert all of the HEIC files to JPG or worse yet to export them one at a time in Preview so I can use with many photo apps, etc. This used to work in prior versions or OS.
