Apple Music

Currently Running Monterey 12.7.2, not sure exactly when it happened but the music app (non subscription) has become completely unusable and I have approx 75GB of music on an external hard drive that has performed without issue until recently, it's become so slow to load on start up and importing anything from another source renders the app unusable for 5 to 10 minutes while it imports.


If you are deliberately trying to force people to use other services you are succeeding.

Try holding down option+cmd when you launch Music to open it in safe mode. This sometimes clears up odd issues with the library.


Look inside the .musiclibrary package? Do you see multiple .tmp files? If so are you using any third party security software? This might be the culprit. If so exclude the Music folder from real time scanning.
