plugging Thunderbolt 2 external drive to Mac Mini M2 Pro or Mac Studio M2 Max

I would like to buy either the Mac Mini M2 Pro or the Mac Studio M2 Max. But they have Thunderbolt 4 connections, while I currently use a OWC Thunderbay 4 with Thunderbolt 2 for all my data and backup disks.

Will I be able to use the Thunderbay 4 with Thunderbolt 2 and plug it to a Thunderbolt 4 connection on a new Mac? I have an Apple Thunderbolt2/3 adapter but will the new computer recognize the Thunderbay as Thunderbolt 4 seems to have compatibilty problems for Thunderbolt 2 devices. Or should I use something like Caldigit TS3 Thunderbolt 3 : I would tehn plug the OWC Thunderbay (Thunderbolt 2) to the Caldigit TS3 with the Apple adapter, then plug the Caldigit to the Mac Mini M2 Pro (or the Mac Studio M2 Max) ? Will this work ?

Thanks.

Mac Pro, OS X 10.11

"the only game in town" is the Apple ThunderBolt-3 <-> ThunderBolt-2 adapter, US$50. An additional dock is not likely to help unless it does the job of the Apple Thunderbolt-3 <-> Thunderbolt-2 adapter, and I don't know any that make that claim.

It does not pass power either direction. it does not support ANY devices except genuine ThunderBolt devices on each side.

ThunderBolt-4 is almost indistinguishable from Thunderbolt-3 as long as you are doing ThunderBolt-y things with it. The differences are when you start to do USB things with it.
