This sounds as though the drive has failed as it can't see it to boot up from.

Trying booting into recovery mode:

  1. Restart your Mac: If you're experiencing issues, start by restarting your computer.
  2. Hold down Command-R: As the computer restarts, immediately hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys on your keyboard. Keep holding them down until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.
  3. Wait for the macOS Utilities window: After a while, you should see the macOS Utilities window. This indicates that you've successfully booted into recovery mode.

From the macOS Utilities window, you can perform various tasks, including repairing your disk using Disk Utility, reinstalling macOS, restoring from a Time Machine backup, or using Terminal for more advanced troubleshooting.

Remember that if the issue is indeed a failing drive, it's essential to back up your important data as soon as possible. If you're not comfortable with troubleshooting or if the problem persists, it may be a good idea to seek assistance from Apple support or a qualified technician.
