How do I fix a messed-up iMac keyboard after cleaning? I forgot to disconnect my keyboard before cleaning it and when I try to log in, the keys are all messed up - typing random characters, double characters etc. I can't input my password to log in and nothing is responding properly. I'm using my MacBook to type this as I can't use my iMac at all. I tried chat support but it's not responding. iMac keyboard issue I accidentally disconnected my keyboard from my iMac. Once I switch my iMac on it won’t connect to the keyboard ( tried with multiple ones ) and I’m stuck at the log in screen since I can’t type my password. Any suggestions ?

iMac not recognizing wired keyboard after restart I logged off and restarted my 2017 iMac. When I tried to log in (to either account) I can't enter a password to get back in. My keyboard works just fine on another computer. I have restarted the iMac several times, moved the usb to other slots, nothing has worked. What can I try?

Try a restart.

If the KB is wireless, plug the charging cable into the Mac, restart and retest.

Use a different KB such as a wired USB.
