I got the low battery notification on my AirTag but could not get it open to replace with another battery as it was damaged. I bought a new AirTag to replace it but I can’t get the old one with the low battery to disconnect and get it to recognize my new AirTag. Any suggestions on disconnecting the old and getting it to recognize the new AirTag?

To remove the old AirTag from being associated with your Apple ID, you need to use the iPhone you initially paired it with. You would then use the Find My app on that phone to remove it.
Regardless, if you cannot get the old AirTag removed from your Apple ID, that shouldn't prevent you from adding a new one to the same ID, as Apple allows for up to 16 tags per ID.
Thank you, that worked to disconnect. Evidently I didn’t scroll far enough in the Find My app. It still has some battery left but not much. I don’t know how long I could have trusted it to work.
