iOS update deleted calendar events

Hello,

After updating my iOS to the newest version 17.1.1 I noticed that absolutely all of my events were deleted. I had very important info written there. Any ideas why this happened and if I could restore them without iCloud ?

(In settings I have the sync for All events as always so that's not the issue)

thank you very much 🙏

I managed to recover all my missing events.

Settings -> My Calendar -> (turn on) Reminders, then (select) Calendars: Full Access (Allow Full Access)

Mine was set on Add Events Only for some reason, before, but now all my Past Events showed up 🤷‍♂️

This worked for me, I hope it might help other users having the same issue. Be safe 🙏

Troubleshooting Calendar Evens After an iOS Update:

Three things to try...

  • Start with a Restart:

Restart your iPhone, and see if it then is fixed.

  • Perform New iCloud Sessions:

Log out of iCloud on all devices, and then log back in, on device at a time. Perhaps it all needs to resync?

  • Reenable Calendar in iCloud:

Disable Contacts in iCloud Settings and then enable it. This would result in a refresh.

On the iPhone:

  1. Click: Settings
  2. Tap: your Name (top item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: Calendar (so that it is greyed-out)
  5. Tap: Calendar (so that it is green)

Hi. I had the same issue today after the update - everything wiped from my calendar - and none of the fixes given worked and my calendar kept saying the app didn’t have access even though it did in the settings. What did eventually work (and I’m not kidding) was the old turn it off and on again trick. At the same time it fixed a seperate issue from the update of apps suddenly not having access to photos and no setting in the settings for each app to allow access.

I hope this helps and you get everything back!

I am having this same issue after updating to iOS 17.3.1 and the update the week before. I noticed all of my calendars from my iPhone 12 went missing about 2 days after updating.

I contacted Apple and they troubleshooted with me over the phone for about an hour. We tried refreshing the calendars, resetting network settings, reloading a backup that was a few days old from iCloud. The Apple associate did confirm that my calendars were indeed synched in iCloud. It took a really long time for the calendar from iCloud to load back on my iPhone

about a week later, my phone did another update to 17.3.1. On Sunday, I noticed that all of my calendars again had gone missing from my iPhone 12. I contacted Apple again and gave them the case number from before. They escalated my issue from senior advisor to the engineers. I am still waiting for them to get back to me (they are supposed to call me tomorrow evening)

I use my calendar for work (I am a teacher) and I have a ton of deadline, appointments, meetings, online trainings, etc that I no longer have access to. I would just like my stuff back.

This worked for me. I hope it does for you too. This last update really messed with my phone having it restart randomly through out the day or during calls. I hope they implement a fix.

iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Calendar event issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors regarding where the calendar events were intially stored. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.
