Extended Monitor Resolution Issue With Mac OS Sonoma upgrade. (Was working fine before)

My hp27xq which supports 2560 X 1440 resolution is only able to give 1920 X 1080 resolution. SS attached.

also this was working fine before upgrading to Mac OS Sonoma. I think if there were another resolution option this would have been resolved


If anyone can help with this, it would be much appreciated.

Two possible solutions…

I seem to remember that similar issues were resolved for some users by deleting a plist file - probably com.apple.windowserver.plist

but it is not easy to search for this on my iPhone (away from my mac at the moment)


Another option, ridiculous though it may be, is to install a utility like BetterDisplay. It is free and offers other features for dealing with your displays, so it is worth a try. I know that it can offer many more options than what the system provides by default.
