Widgets not appearing

I've tried adding widgets on my MacBook home screen but nothing seems to be appearing. The space that i have previously added widgets is now unusable. Advice me on this, please.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 14.1

I had the same problem. This solved it for me: Open Settings > Desktop & Dock. Under the Widgets section, be sure the choice to "Show Widgets" is checked for "On Desktop." Otherwise the widgets are there but invisible, thus preventing icons from moving to the widget's location.
