Hi!
I have a problem with my text messages. When I receive an automated text message which I should answer, the text message field won’t appear.
I’ve tried to restart my phone, force close the app and update my phone but nothing seems to be working.

The type in area is missing, did you try to see if there're updates for the apps in App Store including messages?
Reset Keyboard Dictionary in general>reset iPhone>reset>reset keyboard dictionary
You can also delete the thread and then ask to send you another message
At this point you should contact the Apple Support and have your iPhone tested
I had this issue recently too, to resolve it I did the following:
I have updated it and reset my keyboard. I don’t think deleting the thread helps because the problem is with all messages tuhat are automated.
Can you post a picture to see what it’s looking like?
