Airtag is asking me to "turn on bluetooth and make sure it's in range"

I just got a 4 pack of airtags. I was able to connect 3 out of 4 seemlessly. Easy as bringing it near the iphone, taping connect, and it was setup instantly. One of them however, will not connect. It is recognized, my iphone brings up the "connect" option and after I click it and select whatever item I want it to connect to, it either immediatley or after a few seconds states "make sure bluetooth is turned on and the airtag is in range". Ofcourse, bluetooth is on (turned it off and on to refresh connection), the airtag is within a 3 inch range from the iphone, and it keeps repeating.

Things I've already tried:

  1. Restarting my phone
  2. Reset the airtag
  3. Replaced the batteries
  4. Tried connecting with an ipad pro

Still nothing works. What's weird is that the other 3 airtags connected fine, making me think this is a faulty device. But any advise is appreciated.

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17

I suggest the following:

  • Temporarily move the three successfully set up AirTags outside of the Bluetooth range of your iPhone ... approximately 30-40'
  • Now with just the 4th tag, try setting it up with your phone again.

If successful, you can then place each tag where you want them.

FWIW. There seems to be a reported oddity when trying to set up multiple new AirTags when they are all within the Bluetooth range of the iPhone.
