Unable to copy/paste password into App Store for purchases

In both Ipad mini 6, and Iphone (12 pro) (both ios 17.1.1) i am unable to copy and paste my apple password to make purchases.

1. Auto purchase has been authorised in settings yet the store continually asks for passwords to authorise payment even for free stuff
2. You are losing revenue as I haven’t made a purchase in months.
3. All my passwords are 16 characters or more and in an app.
4. when you press the password box, a small oval box appears with no text and you can’t click on it to paste anything. No connection to passwords appears at the bottom of the screen like it usually does.
5. In any case, it shouldn’t be asking for a password.
6. on checking in settings whether i have a payment method set up, I do, and have to enter my password to check it. This time, my password apps appear and I can connect with them to enter it no problem.
