Is it possible for Apple Cash requests to be automatically approved?
I did not have to approved my daughter's Apple Pay requests before the money came to her account.

What do you mean by "Apple Pay Requests"?
There are no requests for Apple Pay. Apple Pay is used directly without requiring approval of any kind.
If you mean a money request over messages for Apple Cash, that has nothing to do with Apple Pay, and you must have approved it some how when she requested the money. There's no way for it to be automatically transferred.

The only possibility is if you have added your debit card to her account / device. If so, then she can simply add funds from your debit card to her Apple Cash account without requiring your approval as shown in the support document you posted from (Apple Pay is also not involved in this). Your payment method should not be added to her account / device at all, for any reason.
You can then approve or deny requests for money over messages as shown the support document I linked above.
To deny the request for money over messages, you can simply ignore the message.
