edited photos received via iMessage - can you "revert to original"?

I know this was asked many years ago, but with all the changes and upgrades I am looking for a currrent response. When you iMessage an edited photo to another Apple user, once saved to their photos, can they "revert to original" and see the original unedited version of the photo? If so, is there an option for the sender to turn the ability to "revert to original" off for recipients?

For clarity - Which action is not possible? It is not possible for the recipient to revert to original, or it is not possible for the sender to turn the option off?

Photos doesn't have an "edited" picture-- it has the original and the instructions that were used to edit it. The picture that was sent in an email or messages or whatever was generated on the fly by Photos using the instructions. Neither the original nor the instructions are sent-- just he newly made image. This is the only way the picture can exist outside of the Photos app.
