Apple Music no longer shows album artwork on playlists

Hi All, anyone else noticed this issue since the last Apple update?

Now when creating a new playlist, of either an album or a compilation, cover artwork does not get updated and show (adding to Library does allow artwork but you still can't then transfer this to your playlist).

Instead on Playlists it defaults to a standard colour 'design' which has nothing to do with the original album or artist.

I contacted apple support who advised this was to make it more aesthetic and pleasing, and that there is no option to revert to have album artwork.

Is it just me, but surely most music lovers would much prefer to see album artwork rather than an impersonal and featureless design on their playlists - or at the very least have the option to choose this.

The design patterns and colours vary but not by much, so if you have lots of playlists as I do, they're all going to look pretty much the same and difficult to distinguish (very boring also!)

All other competitors Spotify, Qobuz etc I'm aware of allow album artwork on their playlists

Be interested what others think - if you agree submit feedback to Apple in the hope they change it back! Product Feedback - Apple

I'm a loyal apple user have used music for years, but seriously if this issue if not fixed I'll be transferring to another platform

Please Apple!!!! We prefer the old method of creating a playlist that loads the albumcovers! This new "color" is terribly boring!

While we are here, can we please choose a default setting for the field options for playlists!!!

Why must we change settins whenever we log on?

PLEASE!!! hear us and respond!!!

It's not working for me. It did for the first playlist I tried on my iPhone after reading your post. I added 4 tracks to a playlist called Test Playlist, and it generated the artwork with those four covers. A few minutes later it changed to a grayscale cover.

Another test playlist on iPhone just got the grayscale cover art. Same on iPad and Mac.

Something weird going on.

Hi everyone, I updated Apple Music again today but still hasn't fixed

So frustrating waiting for Apple to sort (let alone it ever happened), but I have found a partial work around that works for me - you might want to try also?

I have hundreds of playlists, many of which i no longer listen to but never bothered to delete. You can edit these, adding/replacing to create a completely new playlist - and provided you do this using an existing playlist, the original artwork function still seems to work - updating to the first 4 covers of your new selection

It's still a pain and not ideal, you need to have redundant playlists also, but it gives an option while we wait hopefully for Apple to get their act together and fix things

I've done this twice now without a glitch (iphone) - hope it works for you

Apple may be starting to fix this because i've just checked and playlist artwork is now working on macbook (when it def wasn't before). It's still not yet working on iphone

Any rubbish artwork playlists you've recently made can now be duplicated on macbook and these will now re populate with the original cover artwork as before. Better still, if your phone is synched, you get the duplicate playlist (with artwork) automatically added, so you can just delete the rubbish one

So looks like Apple are trying to fix - hopefully a future update will sort on the iphone also

I think there has been a change! For the past two weeks my new playlists have taken the first four album covers as a default setting. I can live with that instead of that boring color.

My next battle is trying to get them to respond to choosing how we view those playlists!

Everytime I log on the playlist view has reverted to viewing as playlists when I want to view as songs. I also want to have the option to choose my view options!

Who will join me on this crusade!
